Mainframes still run about 85% of the world’s financial transactions, most of it COBOL and PL/1. watsonx Code Assistant for Z is IBM’s agentic code assistant for modernizing that code.
What I Built
I helped build the prototype of the agentic system that became the product’s main form factor: an early Roo Code fork with 10+ tools, 5+ subagents and parallel execution over A2A. I benchmarked five models to justify the pivot.
